Frame Relay Internet Access

Who Uses Frame Relay?

Businesses who benefit from frame relay Internet access:

Southwestern Bell Internet Services' Frame Relay Internet access offers reliable, cost-effective, dedicated Internet access over our frame relay network. Frame relay technology was designed to support bursty data traffic - ideal for Internet data transmission. Frame relay enables you to take advantage of high bandwidths at a considerable discount to T-1 transport solutions. This access option is ideal for businesses who wish to improve the efficiency of their Internet connection, but at a lower cost than traditional leased line solutions.

Benefits of frame relay:

  • Downloading files and images at speeds ranging from 56 Kbps to 1.544 Mbps

  • Flexibility to easily upgrade bandwidth requirements

To bring you the one-stop solution you expect from Southwestern Bell, we also offer Frame Relay Access Packs, which include equipment and installation.

 What is Frame Relay?

Frame relay is a data transport technology which transmits data over computer networks such a the Internet. Frame relay service connects local area networks to the Internet at speeds up to the T-1 level (1.544 Mbps).

Frame relay exchanges information over "virtual" connections. The connection is considered "virtual" because bandwidth is utilized only when data is transferred or downloaded. Although the line is always connected to the Internet, frame relay allocates bandwidth on an as-needed basis. Because bandwidth is never wasted, frame relay is typically more efficient and cost-effective than private leased lines.
