How to Use you Adaptec CD-RW as a floppy drive

MCP logoThis Site is Constantly Under Construction to add new support features for our customers.

In order to format a CD-R or CD-RW, insert your blank media into the CD-RW drive, the system should either show you a startup box with Manufacturer provided software or the Adaptec DirectCD Wizard.  To format the Disk, click on Next.

Give your blank CD a name by typing it in the box provided.  A good practice is to name it with today's date (Example: Aug 16 2001), use only number and letters, no special characters. Then Click the finish button. You will momentarily see the box below.

As soon as the CD is formatted to be used as a large diskette you will see the box shown below.

You may now use the copy and paste method to copy files or you can drag-n-drop files or subdirectories to the CD-R(w).  If you are using automated backup software, then the CD-R(w) is now ready for the automated process.

If you change your CD-R(w) backup on a regular basis you can click on the small CD icon on the lower right section of the task bar, and select Eject.  The box shown below will appear and you will be asked to select Leave Disk as it is or Organize it so that it can be read by regular cd-readers.  If this is a backup, select the Organize button.  If you are going to write more data on the CD-R(w) later select the leave the disc as it is.

You will get this final screen, showing you are through, Click Finish.
