and so forth. WANs interconnect LANs which may be located in
different cities or geographical regions. Generally a WAN
incorporates a form of border crossing, such as city to city on the same
continent. Metropolitan Area Networks ( MAN ) interconnect
multiple sites using third party connections ( such as ISDN, T1, and so
forth ) generally located in the same city or county. Global Area
Network ( GAN ) is a WAN that crosses continental boundaries.
